“I have been an avid Arsenal supporter since I was 12 years old following them since the year before St. Michael Thomas put ‘it all up for grabs.’ Choosing Arsenal wasn’t much more than as a kid remembering how cool I thought the cannon on the kit looked! Even though I come from a German family wanted an English club to follow because Bundesliga was a lot harder to follow with no coverage here.

Arsenal winning the title the next season solidified my clearly awesome choice. While I look back fondly at the George Graham years of the early 1990′s it was hard to keep up with the English Domestic league because were without cable coverage like we have now, nor did we have the internet (yes, it’s true there was a time before the internet as Jean can attest) and had to rely mostly on shortwave radio broadcasts from the BBC and match reports in UK papers bought in the magazine shops.

Then in 1995 we signed Dennis Bergkamp and something told me the club was moving to a new level. More and more games made it to television here and at least I had good internet at university to read more news. A couple of years later Arsène Wenger arrived and transformed the club in to the one we know and love today. I’m looking forward, like all of you, for our next peice of silverware but having lived through some lean years, I know it will come again and I feel Arsenal are in a better position than most clubs and we are capable of winning things despite what the pundits may want you to believe.

My role at Arsenal Canada has been to handle the membership and the revision and distribution of the membership packs. I hope you’ve all been please and look forward to Arsenal Canada’s continued growth over the coming seasons.”
